NBCA AT STUDY

The NBCA, Inc. convenes three (3) times per year. One of the annual sessions is designated as the Convention at Study which focuses upon the teaching ministry of the Church. The NBCA, Inc. at Study convenes annually the week following the third Sunday in June in a designated location approved by the Convention Site Selection Committee, the Executive Cabinet and the Convention President.

The Convention at Study is implemented through the National Baptist Congress of Christian Workers (NBCCW) and the National Youth Convention (NYC).

The National Baptist Congress of Christian Workers: The goals of the Congress of Christian Workers are to provide the Convention with classes, workshops, seminars, worship experience and other activities to equip the church for ministry and to systematically support the Convention with their time, talent, treasure and testimony.

The Congress meets Monday following the third Sunday in June and closes on Thursday. The format of the Congress consists of classes Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons. The classes are taught by competent preachers, pastors, and members of the Convention. During the morning and night sessions, there are theme presentations, Bible studies, sermons, and lectures. There is also a musical hosted by the host committee on Monday night.

There are provisions made for pre-registration in an effort to minimize the time needed in registration and to help teachers to adequately prepare for their classes. Churches, associations, and state conventions are expected to register in support of the Congress and individuals must pay a registration fee for entrance into a class.

The National Youth Convention : The National Youth Convention convenes concurrently and in collaboration with the National Baptist Congress of Christian Workers. We meet in various states following the third Sunday in June. The National Youth Convention is an extension of the National Baptist Convention of America, Inc. that is concerned about not only making our youth the leaders of tomorrow, but also leaders of today.

The format of this Convention consists of many different sessions that are geared toward the development of our youth. There are age-appropriate classes during the day, special praise and worship services in the evening and development opportunities for young ministers. The session includes various activities which are as follows: Bible Story Telling, Bible Memory Work, Bible Sword Drill, Extemporaneous Speaking, Drill Team Competitions, Choir and Band Ensembles, and Liturgical Dancing.

The National Youth Convention is concerned about the total being of our youth. Therefore, one of the educational highlights is the scholarship program. This program recognizes and awards youth of distinction for Highest Academic Grade Average, Child of Deceased Minister; Oratorical Contest; Highest Achiever and Need-based Scholarships (3).

The overall mission of the National Youth Convention is to become a conduit/channel through which children and youth will be able to develop a solid foundation for kingdom building. The objectives focus on education, evangelism, training and counseling. The National Youth Convention is a medium that will help children and young adults cultivate a solid spiritual and religious foundation. These characteristics and enriching experiences will enable the youth to be effective in the building of God’s kingdom.
